MOSS
MOSS series paintings summon imaginations and confound viewers so that they feel as if they are actually looking at live moss. Using coarse pumice gel, wood and acrylic on canvas, Treg has created stunning canvases on which moss appears to be growing in the cool, moist and dark environment in which it thrives. The body of moss has no roots, rather it uses tiny threads to anchor itself to the stones, trees or ground where it grows. Treg feels a connection in his own journey through life to the life of moss without roots. Reflecting on his own experiences, the MOSS Series canvases are descriptive of the challenges to establishing roots in a very mobile society.
